The Maine Eastern Railroad operates Saturdays starting in early spring. Full Season schedule begins in late June, Wednesday through Saturday, then Wednesday - Sunday starting in the fall, with special Holiday Trains in December.

If the following excursion packages do not fit your travel plans and you wish to book one of our other scheduled departures, simply give our friendly reservation staff a call at 1-866-MERAILS (1-866-637-2457). Tickets may also be purchased on board the train.

Looks like 488's gonna be flying solo again this year. Her Sister unit 489 is still down in Whippany shops undergoing extensive "open prime mover" surgery by the volunteer mechanics down there. Volunteer meaning who knows when she'll be back up in Maine again...

764 is going to have to step up to the plate & provide 488 additional MU power during the heavier 6+ car runs (during the peak season July-early Sept), and again during the peak foliage season.

'Ol 488 can do it solo, but she really has to dig in when the train gets really full / heavy.
